Chapter 1018 - 1016: Cause and Effect
Chapter 1018 - 1016: Cause and Effect
"I, I still don’t quite understand, what kind of causality is this?"
Once Igor said this, everyone present was stunned.
Everyone understood what Igor meant. Stim’s previous statement was just an explanation of his own deduction, but Igor seemed uninterested in this explanation. He directly skipped the process and questioned the result.
The process Stim mentioned didn’t matter to Igor; he was more interested in the conclusion that Stim arrived at. So all the things Stim just said were a complete waste of time for Igor. He didn’t care whether Stim’s reasoning was logical or justified; he just wanted to know the result and the cause-and-effect that Stim talked about.
This surprised the others as well. People generally think that knowing more details would help in better understanding later, which is human nature. Most people think this way. But Igor didn’t think so. He didn’t care how hard it would be for him to understand later; he only wanted to know the cause-and-effect.
Sometimes, Igor’s logic is that straightforward, without considering others’ feelings.
"Don’t rush, Igor. Let’s take it one step at a time and start thoroughly organizing it now." Stim quickly said, as Igor’s question made him feel his previous narration was too long-winded.
"I just don’t get it, why does Lord Soron present these things in such a complicated way? If he wanted to tell others, couldn’t he just write it directly? Why beat around the bush, wasting energy!" Igor expressed his thoughts.
"You’re right, Igor, Lord Soron was indeed too verbose, but as Stim just mentioned, there’s a cause and effect. The reason for such concealment is because he was forced to."
"I can’t understand what difficulties there could be, or what words can’t be said directly, why such obscurity."
"Young man, maybe you haven’t yet understood this world. When you fully enter it, you’ll realize many things are beyond our control." Dean Hoffman began to speak meaningfully, as if to enlighten Igor.
However, Igor didn’t buy it. He felt that many things weren’t that complicated and that people intentionally made simple things complicated.
Just like these four Spirit Books now, which could be finished with one book, yet they chose to use four, and hide them, not letting anyone see them. If it weren’t for a brilliant scholar like Stim, would these hidden things forever remain undiscovered?
Igor felt this was a very serious problem.
"Dean, what you’re saying isn’t the reason; the reason Lord Soron didn’t directly tell us was because he was forced to. I just said, these concealed contents and what is presented in these books are the cause and effect. Let me finish explaining." Stim said without haste and without feeling that Igor’s questions were stupid or naive. He believed everything was as expected and only occurred because he didn’t explain it well.
By bringing up cause and effect, maybe he addressed the situation too early, causing Igor, who cared only for the result, to become impatient. Although focusing only on the outcome is not right, Stim currently had no way to persuade Igor not to be so arbitrary.
Igor kept troubling over the phrase "The experience of exploring the Wilderness is the cause, and the hidden things in these books are the effect." He didn’t understand why after exploring the Wilderness, Lord Soron didn’t directly state the result and chose to express it in such obscure ways.
"Igor, your concerns, Lord Soron mentioned them." Stim said, now being the authority responsible for explaining everything.
"What do you mean? I still think he’s making a big deal out of nothing."
"All the contents Lord Soron concealed were mentioned..." Stim felt that Igor was now a little unreasonable, guessing randomly without even reading what Lord Soron wrote. How disrespectful can that be!
"Uhh... where? How come I didn’t see it."
"When I was giving examples earlier, I was always narrating those parts I extracted. That content was organized over a long time by Senior Jiggs, Senior Skol, and me. Didn’t you see any of it?" For someone like Igor, who didn’t even look before speaking, Stim found it rather disgusting.
"I did read it!" Igor quickly said; he also heard the dissatisfaction in Stim’s tone.
"Then why are you still arguing without reason here."
"I’m not, I genuinely don’t understand!"
"You, I don’t even know what to say to you!" Stim felt deeply helpless for the first time.
The Sol Brothers watched the current scene feeling very strange. Clearly, it was something easily understandable; why did Igor still not understand?
"I really don’t get it." Igor blushed, feeling wronged.
"I think everyone should calm down. I know Igor has gotten into that dead-end." Hustace, who had been quiet, finally spoke.
"Go ahead, since you and Igor have a better relationship and understand his temperament, tell us how he’s gotten into this dead-end." Dean Hoffman asked, very interested in the current situation.
"Igor always keeps his thinking focused on those books. He never views the extracted content independently." Hustace explained.
"Hmm, what you say seems reasonable, but even so, the extracted things aren’t that hard to understand. Why does he still seem unable to understand?" Dean Hoffman continued to ask.
"This probably comes down to cause and effect. Igor feels the hidden secret hasn’t fully manifested yet, which is why he keeps clinging to the cause-and-effect." Hustace said.
"What?" Stim seemed not to believe Hustace’s words. He couldn’t have imagined that Igor would still believe the result hadn’t emerged and continued hiding.
"What are you surprised about? I can’t see the effect and don’t understand the cause, and you’re not explaining it, how can I understand?" Igor said as he saw Stim’s surprised expression.
"But everything hidden is displayed right before you! I could understand if you didn’t grasp the cause, but the effect is right under your nose!"
"I still don’t get it!" Igor continued scratching his head; he truly didn’t understand.
"It seems, this matter must be handed over to you." Stim looked at Hustace and uttered this meaningful statement.
